January Ministry Reports

Stringfellow Trustee Camp – December 31
Pastor John Hammond and Dan Groves went to this facility and spent some time with about 8 men. After John led us in some worship, he introduced the ministry and Dan gave the message in an informal manner with all of us sitting close and interacting. The message was on growing from a baby Christian through to becoming a Disciple and continuing on into manifesting sonship. Questions were answered and we ended with individual prayers.

Clemens Trustee Camp – January 1
Leonard and Cynthia Ventriss went in to this unit and shared a new-years day message and prayer with the men.

Cleveland Prison – January 1
Chaplain Shelia Johnson went into this unit, (now called Oliver Bell Unit), with Clyde Mullins, Eddie and Rinnie Winslow and Marsha Graham. Chaplain Eddie used to be chaplain here. He gave the message, Clyde ministered on guitar and Shelia ministered with song. Several men came forward for prayer.

Terrell Trustee Camp – January 8
Chaplain Shelia Johnson, minister Clyde Mullins and Dan Groves joined the men there as they had begun with Jericho Price preaching. Shelia introduced the ministry and led us in praise, Dan shared a little about growing into a son of God. Clyde gave the message from 1 John and Ephesians 5. 12 men were present.

Wainwright unit (formerly Eastham) – January 22
Chaplain Shelia went in with Chaplain Eddie, Cassandra Kitchens and Ray Felder, to this unit. Eddies message came out of Matthew 13, “He who has an ear let him hear”. Ray and Shelia ministered in song. Two souls came to Christ and many came for prayer. One of the guards came and said the songs blessed her heart and asked for prayer. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Ramsey Trustee Camp – January 22
Mike Woerner and I ministered to 55 men at this unit. They have an excellent worship team of very talented singers and musicians who opened the service and ushered in the Presence of God. More than 5 of the inmates gave uplifting testimonies of what the Lord is doing in their lives. Then Mike gave an encouraging Word from the Bible. I gave the message in John 3:30 NIV, John the Baptist stated, “He must increase, but I must decrease” then taught in Colossians Chapter 3 that explains true Christian behavior. At the end of the service, we prayed for the men and the worship team closed the meeting.
God bless, Pastor John Hammond

Carol Vance Trustee Camp – January 29
Mike Moerner, Jason Perez, and I ministered in this unit with 61 men in attendance. The service was opened in prayer and the unit worship team brought in praises to the Lord. Then something happened I have never seen in all my 40 years of prison ministry. One of the men took an offering for homeless people and many of the inmates gave food stuff they had purchased from the commissary and placed them in a box by the podium. Many testimonies were given by the men and I gave an encouraging word on Keeping the First thing First. Then Jason gave a message on the ‘Battlefield of The Mind’ using Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Jason gave many other scriptures showing that even though the mind is the battlefield we can be victorious over our thinking. The message was timely and well-received by the men. For some Mike’s name was on the list and he couldn’t go into this unit.
God bless, Pastor John Hammond

Duncan Unit, Diboll, Tx – January 29
Dan Groves went to this unit and had worship fellowship with the 31 men in attendance. Dan brought the message on preaching the Gospel, and consequently shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
