February Ministry Reports

Clemens Unit – Sunday, February 6, 2022
My husband Leonard and I had the pleasure of ministering at the Clemens Unit in Brazoria, Texas. The Trustee Camp Chapel was packed, and the Lord’s Holy Spirit filled the place. I had the privilege of giving the message entitled, “Who Do You Love and What is Your Plan?”. The Lord used His scriptures to minister to the men (1Timothy 6:6-11, Matthew 13: 3-9, Luke 16:10-13, Ephesians 5:1-17, and Galatians 5: 16-26) on the importance of putting God first above the cares of this world, including the attainment of riches. I let them know that He loves them beyond measure and that He is their Provider on the inside and when they walk out that gate. I told the men not to leave to go home without a plan because if they did, their enemy would have a plan for them.

Pastor Leonard also let them know that their old demons and old ungodly friends will be waiting for them when they walk out. He elaborated, telling the men that many of them were there because of illegal and immoral shortcuts to what they perceived as blessings. Pastor Leonard let them know that no one blesses like God and that God wants them to seek their customized, personalized blessings from His hand only. He reiterated that taking another man’s blessings will not be a blessing to them but rather a curse.

The message went on to say that God, our Provider, has spared us nothing. He even gave us His precious only begotten Son, the most excellent example of true LOVE. God has given us the gift of salvation, eternal life. And He has written to us the most intimate love letter, the Holy Bible, to guide us and illustrate just how much He cares for us. Finally, we opened the altar for salvation, and it seemed that most there had already received Christ as their Savior.

In closing, we told them that they could rest in the assurance (on the inside and when they are released) that their every need shall be met by our God, according to His riches and glory through Christ Jesus.

Pam Lychner State Jail –Saturday, February 24th
Jason Perez and I (John Hammond) ministered at this unit. The state jails do not have worship teams, so I led worship with guitar. I was hesitant at first, but all the men told me that they look as forward to the guitar worship as they do the message and stated they never get to hear music.

Jason gave an encouraging Word on 1 Peter 1:13-15 that as Christians, we are to live holy, which was right on track with my message of Developing A Relationship With God and that He loves us as much as He loves Jesus. I used the scripture, John 17:20-23, “Then the world will know that You sent me and have loved them even as You have loved Me.” There were 14 men in this service, and all were Believers.

We ended the service in prayer.

Jester IV – Sunday, February 27th
Ministers Vanessa Wood and Dan Groves traveled to this unit, praying along the way for deliverance and broken chains as we went. (As a side note, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice informed us that all units had suspended Covid 19 testing.)

As we played worship music, the men kept coming in until there were no empty chairs. Vanessa led us in worship with CD backup, and we were genuinely ushered into the presence of God as most of the men participated with hands lifted in praise. She also gave a stirring word of encouragement that further energized us in worship.

Dan gave the message: SHARE THE GOOD NEWS. It included the Gospel and encouragement to partake of the Word of God. Using scriptures from Isaiah, Matthew, Proverbs, and 1 Peter, I reminded them that the Gospel was not spread throughout the world by professionals but ordinary believers sharing what Jesus had done for them.

While we prayed for individuals, one man gave his heart to the Lord, and at least five men asked for reaffirmation for their lives to continue in Jesus. These men are being released soon and want to keep their faith strong.
